Deputy Director, OpenNotes Lab
As Deputy Director for the OpenNotes Lab, Amanda Norris, MDiv, MTS, plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of patient-clinician communication in an era of unprecedented health information transparency. Drawing from her background in organizational communications and strategic planning, her understanding of the needs of both patients and healthcare professionals makes her a trusted advisor in navigating the complexities of modern healthcare.
Amanda’s passion for empowering individuals to become active partners in their own healthcare journey is evident in her work at the OpenNotes Lab, which is working to solve challenges where patients, notes, and artificial intelligence (AI) meet. In addition to the Lab, Amanda co-leads the OpenNotes learning collaborative in pediatrics and adolescents, and she is a vital member of Open Results, Shared Access, and dissemination and implementation (D&I) science working groups.
Prior to joining OpenNotes, Amanda honed her skills in project and grant management, marketing, and strategic planning within the higher education, workforce development, and healthcare non-profit sectors in Massachusetts. She earned her B.A. in Ethics from Union University in Tennessee, and two master’s degrees from Boston University School of Theology.
With a firm belief in the transformative power of transparent communication in healthcare, Amanda ensures patient voices are heard and valued through every partnership with the OpenNotes Lab.
