The transition from “Open Notes” being a fringe concept to being self-evident is rapidly taking place catalyzed by a recently released study on Open Notes. That is, the idea that patients would be able to see their doctor’s notes. Like most people, I simply assumed that the doctor’s notes were “theirs”. Not only did I not fully appreciate the potential value, I thought it would be something that doctors would strongly resist.
