About the presenters
Fabienne Bourgeois, MD, is a pediatric hospitalist and Associate Chief Medical Information Officer at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH). She is the physician lead for patient facing applications and has been involved with the development and implementation of the patient portal for the past 15 years and leads the OpenNotes initiative at BCH. Her specific interests are related to privacy and confidentiality in the digital space, as well as leveraging informatics to partner with patients and families to improve the quality of care.
Cynthia L. Kuelbs, MD, is the Chief Medical Information Officer at Rady Children’s Hospital and a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego. She is board certified in Pediatrics, Child Abuse Pediatrics and Clinical Informatics. Dr. Kuelbs is focused on using health information technology to improve care, engage patients and better understand what factors influence health and healthcare. She is passionate about encouraging patient participation in their own care through access to health information, particularly through use of patient portals.
