Jim Guest is a lawyer, consumer advocate, and politician. From 2001 to 2014, Guest was the president and chief executive officer of Consumer Reports. He currently volunteers as President of Consumers International, a federation of more than 250 organizations from over 115 countries that is the global voice and advocate for the world’s consumers.
Jim brings to OpenNotes four decades of leading service and advocacy organizations, including Planned Parenthood of Maryland, Handgun Control Inc., the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence, and the American Pain Foundation, where he was the founding Executive Director. This work followed an earlier career in public service in Vermont, as Secretary of State, Banking and Insurance Commissioner, and Secretary of Development and Community Affairs.
Jim is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine (formerly the IOM).
